Aran hat. FINISHED! January 29, 2005

This feels like my first FO of the year, although it’s not. But… I heart it none the less. (note that the hat is blocking on a bucket of drywall compound. Yes, the bathroom is still underway at Chez Zen)

So… now I will try and run out of pink yarn so I can order more for the hideous pink wrap (ok, it’s not hideous, i just don’t like pink) and maybe, just maybe start on Mariah….
Oh wait… I have to make some slippers for my niece. But I haven’t dyed the yarn yet… so maybe it will be Mariah! Oh wait, I have to knit something for my other nieces birthday on V-day. Crap… what am I going to do for her? Maybe I’ll shop for something. (GASP!) Who knows. Back to the pink!

Aran Hat… has to be frogged January 27, 2005

So I’m knitting this aran hat for my massage therapist… The pattern calls for me to knit stockinette the entire inside of the hat (after knitting the aran band) and they do the top. Well…. as I’m getting close to finishing the top, i realize that the inisde is all pouchy.. and ugly… and really needs to be frogged. But of course before I ripped it apart, I took some pix.

Don’t worry, I didn’t frog the cool band, just the stockinette crap. I decided just to pick up the outer rim stitches, and knit the flat top. I’ll post finished pix later this weekend, and then…. and then….. I hope to begin MARIAH. sigh…….

Introducing Elwood! January 23, 2005

Well, Folks, here he is! It’s Elwood the Monkey. Slightly Mischevious, and totally gay. I’ll be knitting him something fabulous, as soon as possible.

Monkey and other exciting things…. January 18, 2005

So…. monkey is pretty much done! He just needs to have his cute little face embroidered on, and i’m in the middle of knitting a Duck for a baby shower, so He will have to wait. (besides, i may need help with the embroidery, so I’ll do it thursday when I have a supervisor) He has been named, but i’m going to keep it secret till he is unveiled. He’s a slightly mischevious monkey…. And his name suits him so well. He’s also a LITTLE bit on the gay side (of course he is!! he’s my monkey!) so he may get a sparkly fur vest.

Yeah!! I was accepted into the knitting blogring!!! I’m so very excited! Now I just need to get back to posting pictures…. once I have something finished to post ( or something different ).

Double yeah!! My delightful receptionist just turned 21, and for her birthday, she wanted knitting lessons… so …. I got her some needles some eskimo wool…and Stitch n Bitch ( of course )…. and yesterday she learned to cast on and the knit stitch!!and she LOVES it! (of course) So …. she’s currently sitting at her desk, knitting between calls and charts that she updates. She has the best job ever, she works for a chiropractor, gets free treatment (including Massage) and gets to knit when it’s slow ( like today ).

Now. I must see my last patient so I can go home and knit…..

Monkey is getting close January 15, 2005

Monkey is so so close to being done! All knitted, body, with two legs, and an arm…and then… snap! my yarn needle broke! And of course I can’t find another. And of course we’re stuck in side, as there is an ice storm going on outside… so I must wait till i go to Mabel’s tomorrow to buy another needle. Monkey will live tomorrow!!

So tonight I’ll watch Harry Potter and work on the blasted pink shawl. Blarg!

Knitting tonight! January 13, 2005

Tonight is an impromptu Stitch n Bitch… we usually meet sundays, but have been having impromptu meetings on Thursdays… It’s a smaller group, and tends to be quieter… but it’s fun! Today we’re doing a CD swap too. SAWEET!

Hopefully I’ll finish monkey tonight, probably not stuffed, but at least all knitted. Yeah monkey!

I’m also planning on working on the pink shawl some. It’s pink. And I hate pink… but I’ll finish it cause i love Cherie.

Monkey!!! January 12, 2005

Monkey is coming along nicely. He’s got two legs, two arms a body and half a head. I’m not working on anything till I get Monkey done! I heart him, and can’t wait to have him to play with!
Hubby is deathly ill with the flu… so we’re spending lots of time on the couch. He’s moaning, I’m knitting… my favorite!

So Joi sent me a link to this blog I have subsequently decided that not only am I in love with the monkey, but I MUST have one. So today, Joi and I went to the bookstore bought the book (we each bought one, even though we vowed not to buy the same books…. we both just had to have this one) and then bought the yarn to make monkey.
I have one question…. If I want a monkey mainly to take funny pictures of it… does that make me a bad monkey mommy??

I started a hat for my massage therapist for her birthday… I’m using this pattern but i altered it to be a little shorter… otherwise it was going to look like a Fez…. here is the progress so far.
