My mother in laws birthday purse! Finally!! July 31, 2005

Filed under: Uncategorized — mamazen @ 9:41 pm

I finally had time today to finish my mother in law’s birthday present! It’s been crazy around here, I’m getting ready to open a new office, so moving preparations have been making me insane. I spent 4 hours yesterday signing 500 letters and folding them into envelopes. After I’m done posting this, they all need to be labled… and readied for the post office. Also going to the post office are my fabric scrap swaps, and my packages for stich marker swap! I also hope to get a package in the mail for my friend Johanna who is stranded in the middle of nowhere and has no access to crafty supplies. :D
So without further ado… here is my MIL’s birthday present! I absolutely love it!

Pink lemonade….Yummy!! July 31, 2005

Filed under: Uncategorized — mamazen @ 9:25 pm

So.. I finished my pink lemonade apron. Just in time to make dinner tonight, and hopefully in time for the deadline. I love it! I decided it would be a little tribute to our fab local band Pink Martini and still stay within the pink lemonad theme. My friend Joi came over to sew today, and she helped with both idea and placement. Basically, she rocks. I used a vintage apron from knittn kitten for the pattern. I made the whole apron with one extra large flour sack towel, and scrap fabric from the scrap fabric swap!

Here is pink lemonade in action, making sauteed zuccini for veggie burritos. It looks like I’m not wearing anything under it, but I am… it was just really hot today!

My beloved crafty mom reads this blog. She understands my urge to craft.. and when I started sewing, she really understood (actually encouraged my addiction!) So… for my upcoming birthday, she gave me some awesome gifts. :D
This gorgeous table cloth that was hand stitched by my Nana (her mom). Don’t you just love the detail, and color?

This apron was well worn by my nana who passed away 2 months before I was married. (i just celebrated my 9th anniversary) I don’t remember this apron in particular, but I can just imagine her wiping her soft, rose scented hands on this after making her famous tortillas.

This apron was made by my nana for my mom.. it’s so cute I almost can’t stand it.

And finally… I had to make this little apron.. It was a panel of fabric I got at my new favorite store Knittn Kitten. I just put some bias tape (I have just discovered it, and I love it!!) and a ribbon for a tie.. super easy. and so so cute!

I have my pink lemonade apron all planned out.. just looking for the time to do it.I hope to find time this weekend, since it’s supposed to be done by the end of the month! We shall see…..

Well… just back from a family camping trip. Ryan decided to learn how tie flys for fly fishing. At one point he looked at me and said… “now I know why you love crafting so much!” Yes… now he knows. Now… he is officially invited to SCS.

Stitch Marker Swap!! July 27, 2005

Filed under: Uncategorized — mamazen @ 8:26 pm

I’m super excited about this, although I don’t know if I’ll get mine mailed off before the 5th of August. It’s just that kind of week, I suppose.

Do you prefer shorter or more dangling type of markers? Dangling. :D

Is there any kind of markers that you would absolutely NOT want to recieve? Nope.. not really!

Colors you like most? red, purple, orange, brown, green.

Colors you like least? none really

Would you prefer markers for smaller or larger sized needles? I have many for larger needles. I could use some for small needles.

Do you want your sender to reveil themselves when there shipped or at a later date?
and How would you like to find out if at all? I dont’ care.. I’d love to know right away, so I can thank them :D

I knit this little combo up for a friends baby’s 1st birthday. It’s Anouk and the Baby Beret from Knit Baby Head and Toes. Both are super easy patterns. They were knit over about a week (whilst sewing and what not) with Lion Brand Cotton Ease. I was going to do a little fishy theme, but couldn’t find cute fish buttons. However, since Olivia’s parents are big gardeners, I chose these gardening themed buttons. Sigh. Doesn’t it make you wish you were pregnant? Oh wait, everything makes me wish I were pregnant!

Ok, not to toot toot toot my own horn, but for crying out loud, can this BE any cuter?

My sisters bag. finito! July 10, 2005

Filed under: Uncategorized — mamazen @ 9:10 pm

So I finished her bag. And I love it. Really, I do. I love it. I want to keep it… and I might. I may make another one with some other fabric I have, and see which one is better. (and of course give the better one to her!)
There are many many many mistakes. None of which can be seen from these pix. She probably wouldn’t notice them. I will, but I don’t care, cause it’s lovely. :D

I have to say, although I have two bandaids on my left hand now (one from the pesky scissors, and one from slicing melon this morning) I love sewing. I must have gotten that gene from my mom. :D I have at least 2 more bags in the hopper, and at least 2 skirts. Now, just to find the time!
