A couple of people asked what pattern I used for the noro set…Well, I didn’t. My good buddy Joi made some wrist warmers, and I just stole her idea.. just a simple 2×2 rib, and then cast off for the thumb hole and cast back on next time around.
Same with the hat.. just a basic 2×2 rib in the round, then i did stockinette.. the decreased.
The scarf, it’s a mini clap.
All easy, all fun, and all quick!

Oregon Flock and Fiber! September 24, 2005
So… I went to the Flock and Fiber for the first time… and yes, it made me wish I could spin… but I didn’t buy a wheel, and I didn’t buy any roving. I fondled, and drooled, but didn’t purchase. Well, I didn’t purchase any spinning type stuff. But, I did buy knitting type stuff!
First, I bought this gorgeous Blue Moon ribbon to knit up a quick wrap for my wonderful friend and naturopath Mona, who is getting married (in a traditional Indian wedding, where I get to wear a GORGEOUS sari) in October, and then heading off to Mexico for a three week honemoon, where she will need a gorgeous ribbon wrap! Now… to choose a pattern and get to work!

Next I picked up some awesome Wildfoote sock yarn at $2 a skein.
three different colors.. the green/brown for socks for hubby, the red for me, and the blue… probably for me too. ![]()

Now we have a pix of my finally finished (except for weaving in the ends, of course! my weakness!) Noro Shinano scarf/hat/wrist warmers combo thanks to my fabulous SP Jane.
(I’d link to you, sweetie, but for some reason, I can’t figure that out on the ol Mac) She sent me a skein of this stuff, and I did the wrist warmers… I loved them so much I ran out and bought two more skeins… and now I’m all set for fall! yes… I look dorky in this picture. When don’t I look dorky in a picture on this site?

And… last but not least… I bought this awesome cape/wrap/what have you at the flock and fiber fest today. It’s SOOOOOOO soft… lovely peruvian alpaca. I love it so. The picture doesn’t show the cute little buttons or the great peter pan collar… but my photographer is less than happy to oblige me for blogging pictures. (crankyboy! you’d think he’d be happy to do something like that! I may or may not be carrying his future children! and besides, Michigan State won today!) I think it will look fetching over a big fat belly. (there I said it, that means I feel hopeful today!) It is a bright red, one that makes you think a dreary oregon winter day isn’t so bad. Especially when worn over a big fat belly. (and yes, i cut my head off cause one dorky picture of me is enough for each post.
So.. what do you do September 22, 2005
So.. what do you do when you are put on two days bedrest to hopefully implant a couple of little embryos, and you decide to take a week off cause you need a vacation and besides your work involves heavy lifting, and that’s frowned upon in this instance? why, you catch a doozy of a cold that’s what! Yippie! So, I was planning on spending the week hanging out, watching movies, knitting and hopefully growing embryos… and instead, i’m spending it on the couch, watching bad tv, trying to knit and blowing my nose, a lot.
((still hopefully growing embryos).
So… what am I knitting you ask? well i finished the noro set of hat/scarf and wrist warmers, but they are blocking in the other room and it’s too far away to get up and take a picture. (yes, i’m that sick!). Then on friday, a wonderful woman I know who had a still birth almost two years ago went into labor with her second child…. so I decided I must knit her something. I had been wanting to knit her something all throughout her pregnancy, but nothing jumped out as what it needed to be…. so finally when she goes into labor with this long awaited and blessed child, I knew what it had to be. So I went shopping and bought some lovely Elsbeth Lavold Silky wool, and began a blanket. It’s a simple feather and fan pattern, but I’m so glad i chose it. When the baby arrived. He was given the name Na’im which means ‘blessing and comfort’… and that is exactly what this blanket will be for, blessing and comfort. Sigh. I’m so happy for her, I could cry. Oh yeah, I have, a lot.
So.. being sick has helped, when I’m not moaning, or blowing my nose, I’mknitting away, and thinking of blessings and comfort.
In crafting news….. September 19, 2005
Seems like the last few posts have been more about the action in my pants than my craft room. ![]()
So… I give you my aprons for last months “mini me” challenge. I just finished them yesterday, for my little sister and her sweet girl Amelia.
The christmas crafting has begun!
Just a couple of simple cafe aprons with some ricrac and pockets.
I think they are adorable!
So…. you wanna know what happened next? September 19, 2005
Today was the big transfer day. Amazingly all 13 of our embryos were still chugging right along. 9 were at a blastocyst stage (perfect for transfer or freeze) and 4 needed another day to catch up. The embryologist said it was amazing to have such great results, so I’m feeling pretty happy. We transfered two, and I felt nothing, thanks to a rocking team, and some valium
so… Wanna meet my potential people? Right now they are jsut clumps of cells that will hopefully someday be little people running aound my house. I know our chances for twins are relatively high, and althoug it scares the crap out of me… we’ll take what we can get. ![]()
So without further ado….I give you Blast1 and Blast2 , I think they look like me. ![]()
Guess what we made?!? September 15, 2005

As of this morning, my lovely husband and I have made ( well it was mostly the embryologist) 13 of these lovely little zygotes. Sigh, don’t they look just like me? No, that isn’t really one of our zygotes, but it’s what they look like. Yesterday we (well, the doctor) retrieved 14 egglets from my swelling ovaries, I spent half the day doped up on versid (which, if you have to go under general anesthesia, this was a blast! until I came out of it and was completely confused and crying) and the other half of the day writhing in pain from cramps. But it was worth it! because today we have 13 embryos. For those who don’t know… having an almost 100% fertilization rate is awesome!
I couldn’t have asked for more. Now we wait for Saturday, when they look at my zygotes and see how many have made it to day 3, and determine if they are putting them back in then, or wait two more days for a more preferable day 5 transfer. Keep those fingers and toes crossed!
In knitting news…. I used some lovely Shimano that my fabu SP sent me to make some cute wrist warmers… I loved them so much, I ran out and bought some more, to make a matching hat. I liked that so much I’m now working on a scarf ( a mini Clapotis) to make a complete set! I’ll post pix when it’s all finito.
For now, I’m going to bask in the glory that is my beautiful, brilliant, bountiful zygotes.
Secret pal revealed!!! September 8, 2005
I finally know who my awesome SP from SP5 was!!! http://www.thekrazybarrister.blogspot.com/ Yesterday i picked up her final package and reveal… chocolates from MOONSTRUCK! yummy!!!! Jane has been a wonderful SP, always sending me sweet ‘pick up” emails and cards, and spoiling me with tons of yummy treats. I plan on returning to knitting this evening, and I’m going to make some wrist warmers from the lovely noror she sent.
Thanks Jane, you made a difficult summer much better! I heart you!

I’m not going to post about how devastated I am, or how much I’ve cried or about how awful the response is. Everyone knows it, and everyone is horrified. Just give… give blood, give money, give love. Just give. And pray. Pray that the response picks up and these people recieve some sort of help, cause what’s going on is abyssmal.
That’s all I’mgoing to say, because many others have said it better than I have, and frankly, with everything going on in my own life, I just have to step back.
That said, I’m still plodding along in the IVF game, have begun the stimulating drugs, and boy they are fun (not really). Things should get interesting very soon, and I’ll probablly post about it. ![]()
Moving my office tomorrow…. looks like the contractors are going to work through the night to get it finished on time (haha, it was supposed to be done Aug 15th), and the moving crew (ie: my friends) go in tomorrow morning. I’ll spend Labor day, laboring to get it all set up, since I have a full day of patients on Tuesday.
Not much knitting happening here, have done some sewing, but nothing to post pix of. I plan on sewing today, I’m making cloth (flannel) face covers for my adjusting table…. anything is nicer than paper! and I may finally get my act together and make the aprons for last months Tie one On.
So I ‘ll leave you with these pix of what my mom made me for my birthday.
aren’t they grand! I told her they were vintage chic, she said “old fashioned”… either way, I heart them!

Here’s a pix of some of the lovely fabric from the scrap swap. It was awesome!

hopefully my crafty vibe will pick up again soon. my sanity depends on it!
