Just when I thought the morning sickness was over… it’s not…. not at all! But i won’t regale you with stories of barf, I’ll talk a little about knitting instead!
I finished my Ribby Cardi about an hour before we headed to the airport to go to freezing cold Michigan for T-day. I love it :)
I used snaps instead of a zipper, after my zipper fiasco that was my Mariah, and since I don’t normally keep all of the snaps closed, it works pretty well. I used TLC cotton plus, and it was really nice to knit with. Not a lot of splitting, and super soft to wear. I’ll use it again! the other huge plus is that the green in this sweater matches my lovely new Danskos PERFECTLY!

I took yarn to start socks and my new wrap while relaxing in Michigan but really didn’t do much knitting at all. We did a lot of eating, shopping and card playing though! Two turkey dinners and a suitcase of baby clothes later…. no knitting really happened (well that also may be due to bad allergies, thanks to a new family addition… my mother in laws new rascal of a puppy, Leo).

Here he is with one of his fave toys.. the sqeaky hammer that is much bigger than he is… He’s not the smartest pup, but he sure is cute :)

Well I’m off to knit a bit before I either go to sleep or throw up again. Either way, works for me!

Well, since i know some of you don’t care to read along with my infertility ranting, and don’t want to follow two blogs, I’ll post the pertinent info. :) Had our final ultrasound/appointment with the specialist today. It went swimmingly. The little goon was moving around, waving it’s arms… little heart beating, I don’t even have words to describe how amazing it was. so… here, look for yourself!

Lots of knitting happening.. working on some felted clogs for Ryan, and a One Skein Wonder for my 17 year old nieces birthday pressie. She may be coming to town this weekend to go dancing with her friends. so I’ll get a pix on here for you!

Ok.. off to gaze at my US pix! :D

Did you know…. November 8, 2005

Did you know that you can felt something that’s 20% acryilic/80% alpaca in a front load washer on cold? well, you can.
That’s how you turn something like this, my formerly perfect fave wrap, that i knit a couple of years ago and LIVED in while at home (even in the summer, when it got chilly) I even slept in it!….

Into THIS monstrosity
Here you can see how felted it is…

I thought I could wear it as a scarf on super cold days…. but….

Not unless I wanted to be eaten by a big green alpaca

Sigh.. that’s the last time I’m lazy and don’t wash a hand knit item by hand. :( woe, woe is me!

I’m still here!! November 5, 2005

I know I haven’t been the best poster.. but it’s only cause I’m lazy… and I’m sure that no one REEEEEEEEALLY cares, right? Anyway, I have been knitting quite a bit… wanna see?
First up, a blanket I finished (a couple of weeks ago, actually) for my lovely friend T in NY who just had a beautiful baby boy, named Na’im. Her first son was sadly born still, two years ago this December, so this sweet boy Na’im (which means blessing and comfort) has been welcomed with such love and open arms from people all over the world. :) He’s so cute, i want to eat his cheeks with a spoon. So… I chose to make him a blanket with Elsbeth Lavold silky wool, warm, yet delicate, and I used a feather and fan pattern, because it’s so commonly used in prayer/comfort shawls. i thought it was perfect for a boy that has been a prayer for so long, and is now such a blessing and comfort to so many. Eventually (read: hopefully this week) it will go to the post (along with my October (yes, i know it’s november) stitch markers for the swap… my swapers know I’m pregnant and lame ;) .

Next up, a blanket for my friend Lea’s new baby girl Sloan. We had a birth blessing for her a couple of weeks ago, and I told her I’d knit whatever she wanted for this baby… well apparently her son, Sutton loves the blanket I knit him, so she wanted the same for Sloan (who was yet un-named at that point)… I chose to knit this blanket with Patons Be Mine… it’s soft and washable, and so sweet. I decided to use the Pinwheel blanket pattern, because Lea is part of a wonderful circle of women, and I wanted to use the circular symbolism for this new little woman that is being welcomed into our world. I can’t wait to meet her! She was born shortly after the birth blessing, but with the morning sickness, the the little virus I caught.. I just have had to wait. Hopefully this coming week :)

Now I’ll show you what I’ve been knitting for my baby :) oh.. first.. here’s what he/she looks like as a 9 week fetus.

Looks just like me eh? (no that isn’t MY fetus, it’s borrowed from the internet. … and jsut so you know, if you google 9 week fetus, you end up with a lot of very awful pro life stuff, and although i won’t get into that here, no matter how awful you make it look, I will always be pro choice!)
So.. I started knitting some soakers for cloth diapers. :) I also started buying some diapers that were kick ass deals, better to buy early on sale, then wait till the end, right? Right!! So I used two different patterns, both from Little turtle Knits, one ( the larger one on the left) is the basic soaker pattern, and that is a small… and the other two are Ribby Wraps, the green and white is a newborn, and the blue one is small. i think the ribby wrap is soooooo tiny!! I just can’t imagine a butt that tiny with a prefold on it!! All the yarn is Lion brand fisherman, either koolaid or cake dyed… I dyed them all last summer, and don’t remember. :)

Last knitting related photo is my booty from the stitch marker swap. A couple of those were made by my friend’s 4 year old, Marshall, so sweet. The stitch marker swap went well, lots of fun, and I love all the markers! I think there are actually more, but they are in circulation, and I can’t remember what project!

One last thing… I’m starting a blog that will be all about the growing goon in my belly. :) http://www.growinggoonie.blogspot.com/ I should have something interesting posted there by the end of the day, I promise :)
