A whole lotta mama searching for a little zen

Time for a little guessing game… May 27, 2006

Well as we approach b-day (birth- day) I’m curious what everyones guesses are….

So comment and tell me what you think…
boy or girl?
when will he/she arrive?
how much will he/she weigh?

Who ever is closest will win……. eh, nothing but they can have bragging rights. ;)

First, I have to tell you about Aunt Mary. Aunt Mary is Ryan’s aunt, although we all wish we had one. Aunt Mary is everyones favorite aunt. She cooks like nobody’s business and bakes anything and everything you could ever imagine, including the BEST monkey bread (which I always call Monkey balls). She also can knit. When I say Aunt Mary can knit, I mean, this woman can KNIT with a captiol K. She knits faster than anyone I have ever seen. She can knit a baby sweater in like…. 20 minutes. (ok maybe not, but still), and she has knit so many baby sweaters, I dont’ think she even needs a pattern anymore.

So… when we found out we were having a baby, we were looking forward so many cute, sweet things lovingly made by Aunt Mary. Well folks, they arrived yesterday!

How cute are these soakers? There are several sizes, so baby butt will be cloaked in Aunt Mary love for many months (maybe even a year or two!) to come! And aren’t the little ties so cute? i have no clue how she did the little round things, but I love them!

This little green sweater has the cutest palm tree buttons… Ryan said it reminded him of Mexico… although if we go back to mexico, the babe won’t be wearing this sweater… it’s a little too warm for that!

This whole little set is beyond cute. Super soft.. and look at the booties!

Again.. so cute I could die. The little hat with the ear flaps! The booties! The pom poms! gah! I could die from the cuteness!!!

This little sweater is jsut about small enough for a newborn. I LOVE the bright red color, and again with the booties!!! Can you tell, I love booties?

Thank you Aunt Mary for all of your amazing work, and all the love you put into it! I wish everyone had an Aunt Mary…. but I don’t think we’re gonna share you with too m any people (although, you could make a mint if you opened a store!). We love you so much!

One last thing… I was having a braxton hicks contraction the other day, and when Ryan felt it he said… “your belly feels like an Uncle Joe belly”… Only Ryan’s family will know how funny that is…. and it’s oh so true!

What happens when you take this off?

This!

Everyone says you get your hair cut when you’re pregnant.. but… I say, no you get your hair cut when you want a hair cut. Besides, it’s been hotter than hades here, so losing 11 inches of hair was a good thing. I’ve had long hair forever… so time for something new!

and now….. there will be knitting content!

Ryan asked me what would be the first hat we put on the wee babe when it stuck it’s wee head out of the hiding place it’s been in…. so here it is!
I’d link you to the pattern, but I’m tired and pregnant and it’s almost 90 out… so maybe later. I’ll just say that this (http://ma2ut.blogspot.com/) amazing knitter created it. i used some Elsbeth Lavold silky wool (of course! I love that stuff! I finished it in an afternoon. Fantastic pattern!
The booties are the herringbone pattern from Zoe mellor’s book. :D The other bootie fell on the ground behind my rocking chair, and I was too lazy to pick it up. Yeah… it’s that hot.

Here’s a close up of the top. love it!

I’m 37 weeks and planning on working another two weeks (only 3 days a week tho)… then I’ll be knitting non stop. and sleeping….

Birth Blessing May 10, 2006

My fabulous friend and doula Jackie is having a birth blessing for me :) Since I’m not a huge fan of the whole baby shower – and not having one (yeah, most people look at me like I’m insane), a birth blessing is perfect for me. For those that don’t know what a birth blessing is, it’s really a time where the women friends of the mother gather around her, and offer love, blessings and support. Everyone brings a bead for the mother, and one for the baby to create a necklace for the mother to focus on during labor.
We’ve got it planned for the 3rd of June. If you’re interested, I’d love to have your blessings included! Send a bead and your blessing to Jackie by the 3rd, and we’ll read it at the event. Email Jackie at kjgreenfield@juno.com for info.

Much love and blessings to all of you! :D

35.5 weeks pregnant… and still knitting May 8, 2006

This pix was from a couple of weeks ago at 34 weeks. Sigh.

I’m working on a soaker.. but knitting is slow these days, as I’m finally getting uncomfortable. My mid back has a spot that is very recalcitrant, and no amount of adjustments, acupuncture, massage or what not will keep it from hurting 20 minutes after treatment, unless all I do is rest…. and frankly I can’t rest all day. Besides work, I have things to clean, cook, and eat. Heck, just sitting sometimes makes it hurt. So. knitting is slow.

But I’m doing a LOT of this lately…..
